Astrid approaches her learning with commitment and hard work making significant progress in all areas of the curriculum. During home learning, she actively participated during mini lessons and demonstrated effective self-management strategies to complete work to a high standard. Astrid has made a seamless return to school and has enjoyed socialising with her friends again. When working collaboratively, Astrid effectively participates in a range of discussions with different partners and actively listens to others. This was particularly evident during partner and small group work when she carefully listened to the ideas and opinions of others.
Astrid’s future learning will include opportunities to further extend her reading and writing skills. In English, Astrid will continue to develop her fluency when reading assisted through strategies that help her to decode and apply word knowledge to unfamiliar words. She will continue to improve her capacity to identify features used in texts and how these can be used to create texts that are purpose driven. In mathematics, Astrid will continue to develop her skill in calculating percentage discounts.

Emily is an extremely capable student who shows maturity and enthusiasm in her approach to learning. She continues to perform well above the expected level in all areas of the curriculum and is extended through an Individual Learning Extension Plan (ILIP). Emily excels in Writing and this year has created a number of excellent texts, such as her picture story book and a persuasive exposition demonstrating insight and social mindedness. She has also shown excellent growth in her Mathematical skills attributing this to her passion for division.
During home learning, Emily was an active and regular participant who generously shared her ideas and understanding. She demonstrated exceptional self-management skills completing her work promptly and to a very high standard. Emily seamlessly made the transition back into school, enjoying the company of her friends and the school environment. When working collaboratively, Emily treats others with respect and makes appropriate and important contributions. Jessica is a very committed and motivated student who readily participates in class discussions. During home learning Jessica took the initiative to extend her learning through extra activities such as her informational set of slides discussing the impact of pollution on marine life.
When working collaboratively, Jessica is an enthusiastic participant who actively and respectfully listens to the views and opinions of others. This was particularly evident when working with the BPS Climate Change Team to promote a Nude Food initiative across the whole school.
Jessica’s future learning will include opportunities to further extend her reading, writing and mathematical skills. Liev has made very good progress during the second half of this semester. He is a very social student who enjoys interaction with others making him a regular participant during Google Meets. Liev is supported in numeracy through an Individual Improvement Learning Plan (ILIP). Initially, Liev struggled with home learning as he works best in face-to-face interactions making his return to school a welcome transition. He has grown in his maturity and independence as a learner. Liev will continue to develop his self-management skills as well as his ability to work independently.
When working collaboratively, Liev is continuing to develop his focus, his ability to stay on task as well his ability to share and express his ideas. Liev is able to recognise that ideas in literary texts can be conveyed from different viewpoints, which can lead to different types of interpretations and responses. In Writing, Liev will continue to develop his skills in generating ideas and his ability to elaborate and include greater detail. In Mathematics, Liev will continue to develop his ability to use estimation and rounding to check the reasonableness of answers to calculations.

Leo is a kind and friendly student who is a good role model to others. He is able to work independently and shows good self-management skills, consistently making good choices in the classroom. During home learning, Leo showed responsibility and maturity towards his learning and was punctual to our Google Meets sessions.
Leo has made a confident return to school enjoying the social aspects of the face-to-face learning environment. When working collaboratively, Leo listens actively to the opinions of others and shares his thoughts and understandings. He is able to understand, interpret and experiment with sound devices and imagery, including simile, metaphor and personification. In Writing, Leo will continue to work on his word choice to enhance his ability to convey meaning and build a picture in the reader’s mind. In Mathematics, Leo has demonstrated an understanding of the four operations and is able to convert between fractions, decimals and percentages including percentage discounts. He will continue to develop his ability when comparing fractions with related denominators as well as adding and subtracting fractions.

Ella is an active participant during classroom discussions and works well in both partner as well as small group work. Bishay is a polite and friendly student who enjoys spending time with his friends. Demetri is a polite student who handles disagreements with peers appropriately and diplomatically making him well liked by his classmates. He has made excellent progress over the semester, especially in the area of Mathematics. Demetri has made an easy return to school enjoying the social aspects of the learning environment. Hudson is a kind and polite student who enjoys spending time with his friends. He is thoughtful and takes the time to consider the feelings of others before speaking or acting. Hudson enjoyed the independence of home learning and being able to have his own schedule. When working collaboratively, Hudson listens to others and shares his ideas and opinions in a considered and appropriate manner. Hudson displays many of the PYP skills such as being open-minded when it comes to learning new things.

Lachlan is a conscientious and principled student who strives to do his best at all times. He is a thoughtful, respectful and supportive member of our class and has shown genuine interest in all areas of his learning this semester. Andrew joined the school at the start of Semester 2 and has settled in well making a number of good friendships. He is a polite and respectful student who has shown a genuine interest in all areas of his learning this semester. In paired or small group activity Andrew works sensibly and collaboratively with other members of the class. He enjoys sharing his ideas and knowledge and answers questions with confidence.
Being thrown into the deep end so to speak with home learning as well as a new school Andrew rose to the occasion demonstrating his confidence and strength of resolve. He showed the same confidence when returning to face-to-face learning enjoying the social aspects of school life. Andrew understands how ideas and points of view in text are conveyed through the use of vocabulary and idiomatic expressions and that these can change according to context. Oliver has made a seamless return to school and has demonstrated a more diligent approach for face-to-face learning as opposed to the online home learning model. He understands that in order to succeed it will require effort and he has taken initiative in this direction by seeking out assistance when unsure.
In Literacy, Oliver is able to use comprehension strategies to interpret and analyse information and ideas. He can confidently compare content from a variety of sources including digital media. In Reading, Oliver will continue to develop his fluency as well as word recognition and an understanding how texts vary in purpose, structure and topic. In Mathematics, he will continue to develop his ability when working with fractions, decimals and percentages.

Fergus is a lively and friendly student who has worked diligently this semester. Riley is a friendly student who is always willing to lend a hand and help others out when needed. When working collaboratively, Riley is an active participant who willingly shares his views, opinions and knowledge. In Literacy, Riley is able to show how ideas and points of view in texts are conveyed through the use of vocabulary, including idiomatic expressions and that these can change according to context. Riley will continue to develop his ability and improve his understanding when comparing different authors’ treatment of similar themes as well as being able to identify and comment on what makes an effective or ineffective story. In Reading, he will continue to discuss how authors and illustrators make stories exciting, moving and absorbing and hold readers’ attention by using various techniques.
